Born in 1992, Omolola Coker is a figurative artist that weaves layered narratives through various mediums, including the canvas itself.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Japanese and Management, Omolola spent a transformative year at in Tokyo, Japan immersing herself in the culture. After earning her Master’s in SOAS, University of London, her corporate career has honed her research driven practise.

Since returning to Lagos, Nigeria, Omolola's artistic practice has evolved significantly, exploring themes of 'Home' and the life choices surrounding her relocation.

Her recent body of work expands touches themes of misplacement, rest, rebuilding, and femininity. By incorporating Nigerian batik dyeing techniques, known as Adiré, she infuses her canvases with rich symbolism that bridges reality and the surreal. Through a nuanced interplay of mediums, Omolola creates dreamlike compositions that transition sharp realism into abstraction.
